"Ripping lips with a violence of action"
About Us
RCR rods are built in Anchorage, Alaska by Cory and Chantel Shouse. Cory served in the 75th Ranger Regiment, which lends its name to RCR and its logo. RCR rods are meant to pay homage to those who have served in the 75th Ranger Regiment; strong, resilient, elite and willing to take on any fight! Not every Soldier can be a Ranger and not every fishing rod can be a Ranger Custom Rod.

Our desire to make fishing rods is primarily rooted in our passion for fishing. We love our fishing adventures, which explains our production schedule. Additionally, it is the appreciation of the art and detail that goes into building a fishing rod. Each of our rods are uniquely special to our customers as well as to us.
Humble Beginnings
The idea of Ranger Custom Rods (RCR) had been floating around for some time until April 2014 when we started making our first fishing rod; Frankenrod. Frankenrod was christened in June of 2014 on the Kenai River. We were immediately hooked on the idea of building custom rods and RCR was no longer an idea, rather an actual custom rod builder.

Frankenrod was our first rod and with being the first it bared the marks of inexperience, experimentation, and practice. It was hideous to look at, however it was our creation. Despite all its flaws, it fished better than any rod we had ever purchased. Frankenrod has since been retired and is our prized trophy.
